The final round of March Madness was cancelled due to unavailability of our scorer and chronicler, a finely tuned athlete laid low in unforeseen circumstances. The team wish him a speedy recovery and consequently will be playing a number of 9 hole competitions until Kevin can join in.
John continues to recuperate and he and Baby Face Bob (never tell a blogster your secrets) took on the Halesworth 9 hole course on April 1st
It was a hot sunny day and after some fine tuning at the range nearby our intrepid duo attacked the course.
Neither hit a good shot off the tee and John was quietly confident when it was discovered that Bob's ball had found the only water (more like a large muddy puddle) within miles. Unfortunately in his excitement John failed to capitalise on Bob's misfortune and both walked off the first with a point.
The next hole determined the round as John zig zagged up the fairway and then found dense rough for a blob whereas Bob managed to birdie the first of his two shot holes - 5 points to 1.
Bob went on to par two holes and bogie the rest to end up with a credible 21 points. John showed some glimmer of form by paring 3, blobbing one and bogies for the rest - 16 points.
As usual refreshments after were excellent with some fine looking sausage logs.
John will be trying for his first 18 without a buggy on April 8th weather permitting
