Round Norfolk Golf Tour summer comp. Round 1, Bungay

Yesterday saw the first round of this years Round Norfolk Golf Tour summer competition. This year the course given the honour of hosting the opening round was Bungay and they had organised super weather. A large field of 3 had been attracted to the course.

This year the entry fee of £1 per round was to be collected before teeing off on the first and a shiny new piggy bank (Golf Pig) made its début collecting the fees.
Bob reluctantly put his £1 competition prize fund contribution into the golf pig
It didn't take long for the first controversy of the summer when John played a lovely second shot to the first green. Unfortunately it transpired he had played Kevin's ball by mistake and stomped off to the second tee complaining we hadnt announced what balls we were playing with on the first tee. Kevin played any even better shot with his ball to secure an early par. Bob lost his ball so was allowed a penalty drop. Bob, using his own special penalty rules, dropped the ball in the nicest bit of grass available to secure an early point.

John teeing off on first with his unannounced ball,
just before playing the wrong unannounced ball for his second shot
Erratic golf continued over the front 9 with 7 blobs being mustered between the players. At the half way point Bob had 16 pts, John 14pts and Kevin 13 pts so all to play for.
Bob teeing off on the 4th tee. No one was sure how he had mustered 16 pts
on the front 9 after spending so much time in the trees and bushes.
As Kevin tired on the back 9 and John continued his erratic round of pars, double bogeys and blobs, Bob had a purple patch of 4 pars in 6 holes. Thanks to his enormous handicap this translated into many, many points and he could afford a blob on the last to still comfortably win on the day.
Kevin putting for his second par of the day. He missed.
John chipping out of the bunker to secure secure a point on the 16th
Final scores for the day were Bob 35 pts, John 30 pts and Kevin 26 pts.
Its now on to Cromer for the second round this Friday where a bigger field of 4 is expected.

  1. Nice one. Actually it was 5 pars in 6 holes.

  2. I beg your pardon, you are of course quite right but I didn't think you wanted to highlight your bandit tendencies any further than necessary.
