Round Norfolk Golf Tour summer comp. Round 5 Diss

Yesterday saw Round Norfolk Golf Tour summer comp, Round 5 at Diss (just inside the Suffolk boarder). With a large field of 5 attending the competition was split into two groups. John, Kevin and Chris followed by Bob and Ian.

The round started badly for Kevin and after first battling against a badly placed tree on the first he saw a good looking approach end up in the bunker and refuse to come out. However the bunker was punished as Kevin attacked it with his club before a fine display of swearing and more club throwing on the next hole. Things got worse and after the first 9 holes only 7 pts were in his golfing points bag.

drop from under a badly positioned tree on the first.
It was the first of 5 front 9 blobs
John had the opposite problem and after a solid front 9 (15 pts) fell away badly on the back 9 getting only 9 pts. The highlights were some fine swearing and a nettle bush getting an exceptionally savage beating with a 7 iron.
John scrambling well for a point on the 5th.
John 3 off the tee on the 14th leading to one of four back 9 blobs.
With Kevin and John's huffing and puffing Chris did well to keep her game under control and had a solid front 9 of 15 pts.
Chris teeing off on the first
Kevin had a good back 9 with the highlight being a birdie (his first of the season) on the last. He still finished with a dismal 23 pts and last place. Despite this birdie and John's poor back 9 he still beat Kevin by 1 pt with 24 pts.

Kevin tee shot on the par 3 12th leading to a 4 for ONE!!!!!!
Chris also had a good back scoring 16 pts for a total of 31 and third place for 1 OOM point.
Chris tee shot on 10th. It was never seen again but by using
Bob dropping rules she took a penalty and scored a point.
Meanwhile in the group behind a ding dong golfing battle was underway with points (and enormous handicaps) a plenty. Both Ian and Bob had the Diss course tamed and secured 21 pts each on the front 9.
Ian approach to 10th and surprisingly only 1 pt.
It was neck and neck as the pair approached the last with 37 pts to Bob and 36 pts for Ian.
Ian and Bob on tee on 12th.
I was waiting for Bob's tee shot but halfway through his pre tee shot routine the
phone battery light start to flash so I had to take photo.
When he started his pre tee shot routine the phone was fully charged.
As Ian played perfect golf down the 18th Bob got into difficulty and failed to score. Ian got a par 5 for 3pts and won the day for the second round running.
Bob putting off the green to try and rescue some points on the 18th. He didn't
So congratulations to Ian again. Its now on to Thorpeness in a fortnight where there is again a bumper field of 5 lined up to play.
