Round Norfolk Golf Tour summer comp. Round 6 Thorpeness

Round 6 of Round Norfolk Golf Tour summer comp took place at Thorpness yesterday. A bumper entry of 5 paid golf pig their entry fee and teed off.
Entry fees being paid to golf pig.
The first group of Chris, Bob and Ian set off with an indifferent 1st hole performance. Chris started with her first of two blobs of the day but still got to 18 pts over the front 9.

Despite back to back blobs on the 3rd and 4th hole Bob also recovered well for 17 half way points.
Bob's teeshot to the par 3 7th which he birdied for 4 pts.
Ian was finding the front 9 more tricky and finished with back to back blobs on 8 and 9 for 12 points at the turn.

Meanwhile Kevin was struggling with his driver and putter in the group behind and struggled to 11 points the highlight was a par on the par 5 9th.

John was going on nicely scoring on each hole and had a tidy 16 points coming to the 10th. He then started the back 9 with two pars to bring him back to handicap after 11 holes.
Fabulous bunker shot from John getting out from under the lip on the 2nd.
Unfortunately the back 9 did not turn out well for either player. Kevin managed to visit most of the gorse bushes and even put one teeshot down the road. He only added 8 more points to finish last with 19 pts.

From his fine start some bad luck and a few unwanted duffs meant John only managed another 4 points from the last 7 holes including 5 blobs. After chipping the ball at right angles into the ferns John gave them a bashing with his pitching wedge that they won't quickly forget. His 26 pts also left him out of any OOM rankings for the day.

Meanwhile up ahead there were no such difficulties with bandit 1 (Bob) and bandit 2 (Ian) both scoring well on the back 9. Bandit 2 getting 19 pts for a 3rd place total of 31.
Ian demonstrating his bunker skills on way to a respectable 31 pts
Chris was also going along nicely and coming down the last was just one point a head of Bob. Unfortunately for him it was yet another ladies par 5 (4 more than the men!!!!) and with them both scoring a 5 Chris went on to win by 2 pts.
Bob in full swing, if only he could get his weight forward!
The Tour moves on to Bawburgh in August which also see's the start of the best combined front and back 9 in August and September (inc Oct 1st) competition.

The Tour leadboard is hotting up especially in the average stableford points where Bob has just snuck back into the lead.
